College $$$
If your child is starting her senior year in high school, and you've not had the time to learn about navigating the maze of grants, loans and scholarship opportunities, or think about how to get the best return on your college investment, here are some links to help you get started.
First, if you are debating between sending your child to a private school or a public university, please check out this chart showing how time to degree can affect price of degree. You might be surprised to see that, depending on graduation rates, attending a private college or university may actually be less expensive then attending a public university. (Watch for more information about this in upcoming issues.)
Second, there is some helpful information about how to pay for college right here on AdventistColleges.org. It was written with your student in mind, but you'll still find it covers all the basics of what you need to know.
Third, check out the Winter 2010 issue of Adventist College Connections. Useful financial details include:
- Summary information about the different kinds of scholarships available;
- A table with the FAFSA code and scholarship web page link for each Adventist college;
- Tips for working with the financial aid office.
Fourth, if you are a vegetarian and are looking for a scholarship, check out the one offered by The Vegetarian Resource Group.
Fifth, if you have a question, feel free to contact me, Rob Weaver, at enrollnow@adventistcolleges.org. If I don't know the answer, I can direct you to someone who does.
